Apache Tear, also known as Smoky Obsidian, is a stone of grief. It is said to be formed from the tears of Native American women who mourned the suicide of their warriors who chose to ride off a cliff, rather than be captured and killed by the cavalry. Apache Tear is a much gentler form of Obsidian that provides emotional support and comfort during times of mourning. It relieves grief and calms emotional unrest, fear, and distress. It can also help reveal the source of one’s suffering, gently bringing it to their awareness, providing relief, and healing those long-unattended wounds. Those grieving the loss of a loved one would also gain additional support using Apache Tear as it also enables us to connect and communicate with spirit guides and ancestors.
Apache Tear is a great talisman for protection, anxiety and depression. It can ward off negativity, energy vampires and any ill-intent, decrease panic and shock, and support those suffering from depression.
Physically, Apache Tear can ease sprains, strains, spasms, and pain (especially menstrual pain and back pain). It may help ease stress, tension, nervousness, anxiety, and discomfort. It can also be helpful in alleviating depression or states of sadness and grief. Apache Tear is useful for Vitamin C and D absorption. Place Apache Tear near your bed or meditate with it before bed to prevent insomnia and quiet the mind.
