Gypsum is an abundant sedimentary form of Calcium Sulfate Dihydrate. It has several crystals forms. Featured here are three: Selenite, Satin Spar and Alabaster.

Selenite
Named after the Greek goddess for the moon, Selene, Selenite assists those in spiritual work and helps call on spirit guides, angels and one’s causal body/Higher Self. It is a protective stone that dispels negative energy and brings a sense of peace and tranquility.

Satin Spar
Satin Spar is often incorrectly designated as Selenite. Satin spar is the fibrous, silky, shiny form of Gypsum, while Selenite is translucent. Both forms work similarly and have the same elemental content. Satin Spar is popular for being the most effective, quickest way to cleanse and recharge other stones. This is one of few stones that never need to be cleansed or recharged. Satin Spar selenite is often seen as palm stones, wands, and slabs. It is excellent in bringing prosperity and good fortune.

Alabaster
Alabaster is named after Alabastron, a village in Old Egypt near Thebes where this rock was used to create beautiful objects such as cups, vessels and windows. Some of the vessels are referred to as Alabastron today. Alabaster is a universal stone, working with each chakra to bring about feelings of peace and calmness. Alabaster is a protective stone for the innocents. It alleviates anxiety, helps its user cope with problems such as arguments and change, and can assist those with mental disorders by providing clarity of the mind.

Physically, Gypsum removes energy blockages. Gypsum is great for mothers as it assists with bonding, breast feeding, and nurturing. It can help heal cells damaged by free radicals and Mercury in dental amalgams. It also helps the spine maintain flexibility.
